Textile: A Humane Web Text Generator.
Textile has been one of the many benefits of working with Textpattern as a content management system. It is a way of formatting text in HTML without knowing anything about HTML.
It does require learning another syntax, but for the most part, it is a simpler way of doing things than using HTML code. The most common syntax has become part of the text messaging vocabulary: *bold* to display bold text and _italic_ to display italic text for instance.
Alex Shiels (zem), a member of Textpattern's Core Development Team has announced the release of Textile 2.0. Also, Threshold State, Shiel's consulting business, is offering commercial support, maintenance and regression testing services for developers who use Textile in their web applications.
Textile can be used with Symphony by installing the Textile Text Formatter Campfire Service. In fact, I am using Textile to format my text throughout this site.
